Stuff+ Data & Targets 4/22
We’re going to take a look at Stuff+ Data, look for new targets, and see how our previous targets have been doing.
I’ll set up different thresholds for Stuff+, Location+, and Pitching+ and pair them with xERA and other metrics to look for some buy options and/or potential breakouts.
Let’s start with a plot comparing Stuff+ and xERA:
Some of these are our usual suspects and some are not listed on the plot but are placed nicely and that’s where we’re going to look for our targets. Jared Jones was a target in the offseason before Spring Training even started. We’ve all been on the Jared Jones train if you’ve been subscribed since January. Garrett Crochet and Jordan Hicks were previous targets — as was Freddy Peralta as I ranked him in my top 12 Dynasty Starting Pitcher Rankings before the season even started. I think that ranking may have been too low. He looks unstoppable at this point.
I know everyone likes a good visual so I popped the plot up first, but let’s get a different visual and take a look at a bar chart for our first threshold. It’s not going to reveal any new, out-of-the-blue names because I’ve set the threshold high.
Stuff+>110, Location+>97, Pitching+>105 — Before even seeing the bar chart, we know this is going to be a handful of studs and no more. But let’s take a look before we lower the thresholds:
