Saves + Holds Targets for 2024
We'll go over SOLDS rankings and look for valuable targets for 2024
First things first, if you’re not in a Saves+Holds league, you’re missing out. More and more leagues are transitioning to this category rather than just traditional Saves.
What I’ll be doing is ranking the top 50 RP based on their ADP from Fantrax (as of 2/20) and then next to targets of mine or value picks I’ll place an X. Hopefully this helps you find value later in drafts. You don’t have to pay up for Edwin Diaz or Devin Williams to win your league — and that’s not to say that they aren’t valuable. If they fall to you at a reasonable price then by all means go for it, but do not reach. You need to have a stable rotation of RP, all of which you got for tremendous value. If you leave your drafts with any of the RP with an X-mark next to them, you should be in good shape. The more you have at reasonable prices the better your chances at finding offensive value and starting pitching value in other areas of your draft — and remember NO REACHING for RP — let the value come to you.
*Update 3/18- There has been a litany of injuries to the RP crop during Spring Training so I’ll be updating targets and placing notes next to injured pitchers. I’ll also expand targets outside the top 50 to include 25 pitchers with write-ups who’ve seen their stocks rise after a good Spring, opportunities arise after injury, or are just cheaper targets of mine that can be had late.
Let’s get to it:
Devin Williams (MIL) - Out for 2-3 months minimum with two stress fractures in his back. Already dealt with back pain last September and it’s cropped up again, even worse this time. Avoid - even with his ADP falling
Edwin Diaz (NYM) - X - Had a 50%+ K rate in 2022 and early indications in Spring show he’s not bound to slow down. If there’s any reliever you reach for or pay fair value for early, it’s Diaz, in my opinion.
