HitTilt+ Final Rankings 2023 (Free)
A primer into HitTilt+ & access to my Tableau dashboard in 2024
HitTilt+ measures both a player’s power and speed output to come up with an aggregate value. It also takes plate approach and batted ball skills into play.
HitTilt+ is written so that a player’s Age and Level are taken into account in the total aggregate. So for example, Jackson Chourio being 19 years old and in AA and AAA weigh him favorably despite having a 111.6 wRC+. His HitTilt+ value was 45.98. Compare that to Jakob Marsee who was 22 years-old in A+ for most of 2023 with a short stint at AA — he had a 141.1 wRC+ but had a 45.55 HitTilt+ value — not just one metric is weighed specifically, it’s a combination of factors. Not much difference in value between Marsee and Chourio because of Chourio’s impressive performance for his age given his level.
I’ll link my Tableau dashboard to paid subscribers only during the season (weekly, often more frequently) and you’ll have interactive access to every single player that’s qualified on the board. You’ll be able to search by player, team, and age. For the final 2023 rankings, I’ll post the top 136 for free so that everyone can access and get an idea of what HitTilt+ looks like, but remember it won’t be the interactive experience that you’ll get in-season as a paid subscriber. I will just be posting screenshots of the top 136 for now: Here it is:
Paid subscribers will get the entire dashboard of over 700 names sent weekly and sometimes more often. HitTilt+ is a great tool in unearthing hitting prospects early on and as the season matures is a great reflective data tool for being confident in the prospects you do choose to invest in. Remember, the margins for value are razor thin, so being ranked 126 like Agustin Ramirez is not a bad value as Hector Rodriguez who is ranked 60 spots ahead of him only has 4 points of value separating them both.
