FCL/ACL Early Data
We’ve had at least a good full two weeks of CPX ball to date and we’re now getting players with at least 40-50 Plate Appearances to evaluate. Now, that’s hardly a sample you want to use, but it’s all we have at this juncture, so why not look at some Total Bases/At Bat data (my favorite).
For this post’s purposes, I’ve lowered the qualified thresholds to 20 Plate Appearances and Age 19 and younger.
Only 32 players have a TB/AB greater than .5000. That is half a total base per at-bat, which is a good mark. Again, the samples are small but let’s not let that get in the way of evaluating some of the early standouts’ performances. I initially used to rely on TB/PA, but it would ding certain players with better approaches who got on base via walk and while I still like to use that metric, TB/AB is the preferred method for today’s exercise.
